How Mischief works: the user guide

Getting started

Browse everything as a guest. Posting, reacting and voting need a free account.
Join from the Me tab, then add your rats: name, photo and a couple of optional details like birthday, gotcha day, coat and ears.
Photos are your own. Upload from your gallery or take one there and then. No AI pictures anywhere on Mischief.

A new prompt lands every week at the top of the feed.
Write an answer, optionally tag one of your rats and add a photo, then post it.
One answer per person per prompt, so nobody can flood the week.
Your streak counts the weeks you joined in. Miss a week and nothing bad happens. It is a nudge, not a punishment.

Five reactions: Love, Rat Approved, Mayhem, Precious and CRIME.
You pick one per post. Tap another to change your mind, tap the same one to take it back.
You cannot react to your own posts. Let the community do that bit.
Saving a post is private and always available, signed in or not.

Every rat earns renown from their posts, reactions, crimes and badges, climbing from Tiny Terror to Legend of the Burrow.
You have your own rank too, from Fresh Human to Burrow Elder, built from posting, commenting, reacting and building nests.
The feed shows community milestones with progress bars. Every post, nest, reaction and badge in the whole burrow counts toward them.
Follow a rat and the Me page becomes your pack: their latest post and any birthday or gotcha day coming up in the next month.
Memorial rats do not level up. Their pages stay exactly as they are, forever loved.

File a charge against one of your own rats: the charge, what happened, the victim and how much remorse they showed (usually none).
You may nominate one Crime of the Day, every day. Nominating another swaps your vote.
You cannot nominate a crime you reported yourself.

Post your cage build with a photo, rough budget and what is inside.
Give any nest one award: Most Creative, Most Rat Approved, Best Budget Build or Chaos Potato Award.
One award per nest per person, and you cannot vote for your own build.
The monthly Raven's House Award crowns the standout build at the top of the page.

Add a birthday or adoption day when you create a rat and Mischief announces it on the feed on the day.
Both fields are optional and you can leave them blank forever.
Rats marked as memorial keep their profile with a candle instead of confetti.

Calm, plain-language guides grouped by topic: new owner, housing, diet, behaviour, introductions, enrichment, health and an emergency reference card.

Health topics carry a reminder banner. Mischief is not a vet. Anything worrying goes to a rat-savvy exotics vet.
